Not all lubricants can effectively prevent rust; Most commercial lubricants have basic short-term rust prevention ability due to the presence of rust prevention additives, but oil products without specialized additives or specific formulas (such as some pure base oils and high-temperature special oils) have extremely weak or even ineffective rust prevention effects, and long-term protection requires specialized rust prevention oils.

Core conclusions and differences
Situations with rust prevention function: The vast majority of commercial lubricating oils such as engine oil and gear oil are added with corrosion inhibitors such as sulfates, which can form an adsorption film to isolate water vapor/oxygen and provide rust prevention protection during operation or short-term parking.
In the case of no/weak rust prevention function: oil products containing only base oil without additives, some high-temperature chain oils or specific process oils, lack chemical corrosion inhibition mechanisms, and cannot prevent metal oxidation; Its oil film is prone to loss or rupture, and long-term static storage can lead to rusting.

It is designed specifically for sealing or protection between processes, and the two formulas have different weights and cannot be replaced arbitrarily.

Additive formula: Whether it contains specialized rust inhibitors such as barium/calcium petroleum sulfonate and carboxylic acid amine, and the amount added determines the rust prevention level.
Usage scenario: Dynamic operation of oil film updates can assist in rust prevention; When stored statically for a long time, ordinary lubricating oil films are prone to drying up or emulsification, resulting in ineffective protection.
Environmental conditions: In high humidity, salt spray, or acidic environments, the anti rust ability of ordinary lubricating oil rapidly decreases, requiring specialized anti rust oil.
If metal parts need to be stored for a long time or in extremely corrosive environments, it is necessary to use specialized rust proof oil with clear rust prevention levels (such as salt spray test duration) instead of relying on ordinary lubricants.
